I been finding some very interesting blogs when I pick the topic of the week. Many of you I know from before, but there are some I wasn’t aware of before they signed up. This weeks submitter was one of them. RaJ, over at Radioactive Jam has and interesting fascination with Bucky The Spork. I’m serious. Go check it out!
What are some of the more bizarre bits of spam you have received, whether through emails or comments?
Wow, thanks! As for spam, I confess: I thoroughly enjoy making fun of the way-strange ones, and even have a “Spam” post category. I noticed one spammer misspelled ‘friends’ as ‘feiends’ and for reasons I can’t quite explain, I’ve used some form of ‘feiends’ in almost every post I’ve written since then. Kind of a running joke I guess.
Sad to say it’s not always funny. I’ve written a few posts and mocked the contents of scam emails, most of which either announce outrageous lottery winnings, offer money for nothing, or ask for help moving money a la deposed Nigerian ruler scams. Recently a visitor left a comment explaining how he’d been fooled by one such online lottery scam, and had lost tens of thousands of dollars. So I don’t mind exposing these thieves by mocking them; maybe a potential victim will take a moment, use Google to check the validity of some received email, find one of my posts, and delete the scam instead of taking the bait. I think that’d be pretty cool.
